Training Local EMS Heroes

Clarkson University Lewis School of Health & Life Sciences EMS Education Department was created to provide high quality emergency medical services training for University students and North Country residents. The Lewis School inherited the New York State Department of EMS Course Sponsorship responsibility within St. Lawrence County in the fall of 2021. With this new responsibility, Clarkson University is the training location of the North Country's EMS providers for local and regional ambulance agencies.

This training includes:

  • Certified First Responders (CFRs)
  • Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs)
  • Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMTs, coming soon)
  • Paramedics (coming soon).

Besides these courses, The EMS Education Department also offers

  • Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs conducted by renowned national presenters for practicing EMS providers to recertify their credentials and
  • an American Heart Association (AHA) training site status to certify EMS and any health care providers in Heartsaver, CPR, ACLS and PALS courses.
